Adventure – the Antidote to Boredom
Four Pawsitivity hikes offer fresh sights, smells, and experiences that keep your pup’s mind and body engaged. They provide an outlet for your dog’s natural curiosity and energy, helping them feel more balanced and content.
Less Anxiety & Restlessness
Adventures meet needs that can’t be satisfied by a backyard or a quick walk.
Natural Fulfillment
Varied environments satisfy their innate need to sniff, discover, and roam.
Healthy Social Skills
Safe group settings teach dogs how to interact positively with others.
How are adventure hikes different?
Our Adventure Hikes differ from traditional pack walks by focusing on carefully curated groups rather than large, generic outings. Each dog is thoughtfully matched and guided to ensure safety, enrichment, and a positive experience on every hike.
-
No random drop-ins, only dogs matched for compatibility. Your pup will primarily be with the same dogs each week, creating bonds.
-
Hikes build confidence, improve recall, and strengthen social skills.
-
Adventures are led byTammy Egan, a certified behavior consultant with 10+ years of training experience.
The Life of a Four Pawsitivity Pup.
Let the Adventure Begin
Pick-up is just the start of the excitement! Tammy arrives between 7:30-8:30 am in a dog-safe van designed for comfort and security, so your pup and their pals travel stress-free.
Exploring Together
All hikes take place on private land that features wooded areas, rolling hills, and shallow rivers. Whether they’re romping through the snow or cooling off with a swim, your pup will enjoy every season.
The Best Kind of Tired
Our hikes take about 2 hours with dogs returning home between 12:30-1:30 pm. After a full day of exploration and enrichment, your pup comes home happy, calm, and ready for a nap.
FAQs
-
With dogs, it’s more about energy than specific numbers. Before joining a hike, every dog goes through a behavior and compatibility evaluation. Groups are carefully curated to ensure all pups feel safe, comfortable, and happy.
-
All hikes happen on private land that provides a safe, natural space for dogs to explore without the chaos of public trails.
-
Hikes typically last about 2 hours on the trail, not including pick-up and drop-off. Each outing is paced to match the group’s comfort, energy, and needs.
-
To ensure all pups can be picked up and dropped off in a reasonable amount of time, I’m unable to provide transportation outside greater Essex. However, some families meet me at a designated spot, so their dogs don’t miss out on the adventure.
-
Dogs are adaptable, and hikes go on in most weather—snow, sun, or rain. It’s Vermont! However, for extreme conditions, I make adjustments to keep everyone safe and comfortable.
-
I do my best to capture photos and video during our adventures! Most moments are shared at the end of the day; however, so I can focus on ensuring your pup’s safety.
-
That’s exactly why we start with a one-on-one assessment. My background in canine behavior means I can create a customized plan to gradually introduce your dog—or recommend one-on-one training support if that’s a better fit.
-
I know you love your pup and their health is important. By law, all dogs must be current on their rabies vaccine. Beyond that, I respect each family’s approach to preventative care—whether that includes core vaccines, titers, or other health measures—and will support whatever decisions you make to keep your dog safe and healthy.
-
Not exactly. Four Pawsitivity Adventure Hikes aren’t a drop-in service or all-day care—they’re focused outings designed for enrichment, exercise, and safe socialization. Since daycare isn’t right for every dog, many families choose hikes as an alternative while others combine them with daycare or training.
-
Each Adventure Hike is $45. That includes pick-up and drop-off in a dog-safe van, a curated group hike guided by a certified behavior consultant, and photo updates so you can see your pup enjoying their adventure.
